Alloy 625

Alloy 625 / UNS N06625

GENERAL SCOPE

Alloy625 / UNS N06625 is a nickel-based high-temperature alloy known for its excellent corrosion resistance, high strength and outstanding oxidation resistance. The alloy is mainly composed of nickel, with chromium, molybdenum and niobium added as key alloying elements. Chromium provides oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance, molybdenum enhances pitting and crevice corrosion resistance, and niobium improves the high-temperature strength of the material through solid solution strengthening through synergistic effect with molybdenum. In addition, the alloy contains a small amount of iron, titanium and aluminum, which further optimizes its mechanical properties and thermal stability.

Alloy625 / UNS N06625 performs well in extreme environments and can be used for high temperature (about 982°C) and low temperature conditions for a long time, while resistant to acidic, alkaline and seawater corrosion. Its typical applications include aerospace components (such as engine exhaust systems), marine engineering equipment (such as submarine parts), chemical equipment (reactors, pipelines) and the nuclear industry. The alloy can be further strengthened by cold working or aging hardening, and supports a variety of processing techniques such as welding and forging, but attention should be paid to the brittleness problem that may be caused by the precipitation of σ phase at high temperatures. With its comprehensive performance, Alloy625 / UNS N06625 has become a key material in high-demand industrial scenarios, and relevant standards include ASTM B443, ASME SB-443, etc.
